North Fork, Idaho - Just 2 miles north of Wagonhammer on 93 is a road running alongside this scenic river which makes put-in and take-out extremely flexible. The upper run contains several big rapids, including a huge boulder-choked class IV-V drop called Irish Railroad. Another big drop just up from the bridge at Oregrande Creek offers a delightful treat; the wave train on the run out contains some of the best surf waves in Idaho. Upstream from the Kelly Forks Ranger Station, the North Fork enters a deep canyon with some magnificent scenery and some class II and III rock gardens. Watch out for the logs below Hidden Creek, where the avalances on the canyon side dumps debris into the river every winter.
